Sophia was founded by the Jesuits in 1913 and is a pioneer of international education in Japan. Our main interest lies in the student exchange program of semester or year long. Exchange with US partners started in 1935 and current exchange partners in the US counts up to 72 institutions as of February 2016. Every year we are sending and hosting more than 100 students to and from the partners. US students may enroll in the English-medium programs, i.e., Faculty of Liberal Arts, Green Science and Engineering, Global Studies, Global Environmental Studies, or Summer Session program (late July-mid August.)
